KOTA TINGGI: Police have identified a convoy of luxury car drivers who were captured allegedly overtaking dangerously and driving recklessly along the Senai-Desaru Highway near here today.
Several high-performance sports cars including Lamborghinis were captured overtaking other vehicles in a dangerous and intimidating manner, posing serious threat to other road users and their safety.
The alarming driving behaviour drew negative comments from social media users, with many condemning their mentality and raising concerns on the potential of a tragic accident due to their dangerous manoeuvres.
District police chief Superintendent Hussin Zamora said the 71-second footage was uploaded on "Jabatan Netizen Negara's" Facebook page yesterday at 9.13pm.
After getting thousands of shares, the video went viral today.
"Our Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division officers have identified the drivers, and action will be taken against them under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
"We have recorded statements from five of the drivers aged between 44 and 64.
"The convoy of luxury cars was travelling from Senai towards Bandar Penawar via the Senai-Desaru Highway here when the alleged incident took place.
"We have not made any arrests at press time, as investigations are underway," he said.
He also urged members of the public not to take traffic rules and regulations lightly as it was placed for the safety of all road users.
"Please refrain from driving dangerously and recklessly regardless of the type of vehicle you own," he said.
